Badfinger "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 07-26-24

 


Welsh rock band Badfinger is the "focus beam" artist on this week's Boppin' With Beth. Hear about their career including their early days as The Iveys plus 2 rockin' tracks from their discography. There's songs from some of their influences (particularly band member Joey Molland) including Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Buddy Holly, The Yardbirds, Todd Rundgren and a solo track from Joey Molland. There's a new request segment called "Play That Song" and we hear a special request for a Freddie King tune by Jim Suhler (from George Thorogood & The Destroyers, Monkey Beat and Texas Scratch). Jammin' James Riley has a song from The Hi-Risers in Hang Ten. There's also tunes from The Smithereens and a Badfinger cover by Phil Keaggy as well.

Mark Farner "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 03-31-23

 


American singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Farner is the "focus beam" artist on this new episode of Boppin' With Beth. Hear about his early bands, time with Grand Funk Railroad and his solo career including a couple of tunes from his discography. Plus, there's songs from some of his influences including Howard Tate, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Eric Clapton, Rick Derringer, Jeff Beck (feat. Imogen Heap) and Stevie Wonder. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a great tune from Cory M. Coons! Boppin' With Beth Christmas Show 12-23-22

 

It's a boppin' Christmas show on this week's Boppin' With Beth. A show dedicated to all the artists that we lost this year and 2 members of my family that passed away in 1958 (My Grandmother, Frances Letha Cook) and this year (my uncle, Grady Orbin Cook), respectively. The times are sad, the music doesn't have to be. There are tunes from The Brian Setzer Orchestra, James Taylor, Shenandoah, JD McPherson, Cory M. Coons (ft. his 8 year old daughter, Charleigh Lynn Coons), Chris Isaak, Jesse Terry, Shaun Young, Los Straitjackets, Dave Del Monte and The Cross County Boys, The Beach Boys, Mark Malibu & The Wasagas, Phil Keaggy, The Smithereens and Chris Hillman & Herb Pederson. The Grip Weeds "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 05-06-22




American rock band The Grip Weeds are the "focus beam" artist on this Boppin' With Beth. You'll hear all about their history as well as some tunes from their stellar catalog. Kurt Reil from the band is the guest for Beth's Lightning Round as well. Jim Babjak from The Smithereens has known the band since the beginning and joins the conversation about the early days and working in their studio called House Of Vibes. We'll play some tunes from some of their influences including The Smithereens, The Hollies, The Beach Boys, The Moody Blues, The Who, The Byrds and a track from Paul McCartney which is Kurt's favorite artist. Jammin' James Riley has a Royce Porter tune in Rockabilly Rewind and there's songs from The Rooks and The Anderson Council as well.
