There's nothing quite like a fun trip to a record shop so get ready for another Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza on this new Boppin' With Beth. This hour, we select Jackson Browne's "Hold Out" album from 1980. Hear about this album, 2 full tracks from it and snippets of the others. Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza 01-05-24

 


Boppin' With Beth introduces a new monthly series called Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza. About once a month, we take you on a trip to a record store to find a record gem to really take a look at. This time, it's Jackson Browne's self-titled debut album from 1972! Hear 2 full songs, snippets of the other tracks and lots of history behind the project. Plus, there's covers of these tunes by Bonnie Raitt, Jackson 5, Joe Cocker, Brewer & Shipley, Penny Nichols, Karla Bonoff, JD Souther and Paul Thorn. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a new tune from Jake Thistle. Jammin' James Riley also has a song by Blue Stingrays (actually, members of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers...minus Tom).

The late, great Warren Zevon is the "focus beam" artist on the new Boppin' With Beth. Hear about his life, career and untimely passing. There's a couple of great solo tracks from his catalog as well as one from his side band, Hindu Love Gods. There's some songs from influences and peers including The Everly Brothers, Jackson Browne, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan as well as covers by Linda Ronstadt, The Turtles and The Bangles.
