Slim Jim Phantom "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 09-02-22

 

Slim Jim Phantom from the legendary rockabilly trio Stray Cats is the "focus beam" artist on the new Boppin' With Beth. We'll hear about his story and he's the guest on a fun new edition of Beth's Lightning Round as well. In addition to a couple of Stray Cats tunes, there's some cuts from some of his influences including Gene Vincent & His Blue Caps, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and The Beatles along with projects he played on by Kat Men, The Head Cat and a Beatles cover he did with his wife, Jennie Vee. American singer, songwriter and Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame member (with Buffalo Springfield) Richie Furay is the "Focus Beam" artist this week. American musician, singer, songwriter, arranger, and record producer (and perhaps best known as a member of The Beach Boys) Bruce Johnston is the "Focus Beam" artist on the new Boppin' With Beth. Hear about his long music career that started in the late 50's through recent activities this year! We've got a couple of solo tunes, a couple from The Beach Boys and from some of his influences including Frank Sinatra, Nelson Riddle & His Orchestra, Ritchie Valens, Little Richard, Johnny Mercer, B.B. King and George Jones. We hear a tune from Bruce's favorite singer Christian Love (Mike's son) too!
