Shemekia Copeland "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 04-07-23

 


Award-winning blues, soul, Americana singer and my April 10 birthday buddy Shemekia Copeland is the "Focus Beam" artist on this new episode of Boppin' With Beth. Hear about her career, a couple of great tunes from her discography and tunes from some of her influences including her dad Johnny Copeland, Aretha Franklin, Ruth Brown, Koko Taylor, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding and Etta James. Jonathan Edwards "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 03-10-23

 


American singer-songwriter Jonathan Edwards is the "Focus Beam" artist this week on Boppin' With Beth! Hear a couple of great tunes from his long career (one from his debut 1971 album and one from his most recent). There's also songs from some of his influences and peers including Otis Redding, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, James Taylor, Livingston Taylor, Aretha Franklin and Bob Dylan. Beth's Bop Of The Week is from a friend of Jonathan's too, Jesse Colin Young. Jammin' James Riley has a classic from The Shadows in Hang Ten and there's tunes from Jackson Browne and The Isley Brothers (covering Jonathan Edwards) to close out the show!
