Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza: The Beach Boys- "The Beach Boys Today!" (1965) 06-14-24

 


There's nothing like a trip to the record shop and a cool new Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza on this episode of Boppin' With Beth. This week, we dig into "The Beach Boys Today!" album from 1965! We'll hear 2 full songs and snippets of the others. Plus, there's covers of most of the songs on the album by Al Jardine, Brian Wilson, The Weeklings, Johnathan Pushkar, She & Him, Pat DiNizio, Wilson Phillips and The Red Squares. Hear the original versions of a couple of tracks by Bobby Freeman and The Students. Plus, Beth's Lightning Round returns with Mark Malibu from Mark Malibu & The Wasagas along with his favorite tune from their discography. The Trashmen "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 12-15-23

 



Legendary American rock band The Trashmen are the "focus beam" artist on this new episode of Boppin' With Beth. Hear about their early band, history and legacy (including talking with guitarist Tony Andreason about the 60th anniversary of "Surfin' Bird) as well as a couple of rockers from their discography and a tune with Deke Dickerson. There's tunes from artists they loved listening to including Dick Dale, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Ventures (classic lineup), Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Homer & Jethro, Jimmy Reed and Larry Lapole & The Polecats. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a new one from The Ventures (current lineup) that is out of this world. Jammin' James Riley has a rocker from the Surfaris in Hang Ten. Plus, there's songs from the Ramones (covering The Trashmen), Los Straitjackets, The Beach Boys and Mark Malibu & The Wasagas! Haven't you heard? The bird is the word!!

The Proclaimers "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 05-19-23
