Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza: Harry Nilsson "Nilsson Schmilsson" (1971) 03-08-24

 


Let's take a trip to the record shop for another Beth's Crate Digging Extravaganza on this new episode of Boppin' With Beth! The spotlight is on Harry Nilsson's masterpiece, "Nilsson Schmilsson" from 1971. Hear a couple of tracks from the album, snippets of the other tunes, players on the album, the album cover, his daughter Olivia Nilsson talking about sequencing and more! There's some tunes from some of his influences and friends including Little Richard, Ray Charles, The Beatles, The Everly Brothers, Randy Newman, Micky Dolenz (covering a Nilsson classic with Phil Keaggy on guitar), Badfinger (with their original version of a Nilsson hit from this album), Robin Zander (covering a tune from this album) and Ringo Starr. There is even a cover of "Gotta Get Up" by Harry's daughter, Annie Nilsson! Beth's Bop Of The Week is a great tune from Al Jardine. The Fray "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 11-24-23


American rock band The Fray is the "focus beam" artist on this week's Boppin' With Beth. Hear about their story as well as a couple of choice tunes from their discography. American guitarist and producer Jeff "Skunk" Baxter is the "Focus Beam" artist this week.
