The Trashmen "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 12-15-23

 



Legendary American rock band The Trashmen are the "focus beam" artist on this new episode of Boppin' With Beth. Hear about their early band, history and legacy (including talking with guitarist Tony Andreason about the 60th anniversary of "Surfin' Bird) as well as a couple of rockers from their discography and a tune with Deke Dickerson. There's tunes from artists they loved listening to including Dick Dale, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Ventures (classic lineup), Buddy Holly & The Crickets, Homer & Jethro, Jimmy Reed and Larry Lapole & The Polecats. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a new one from The Ventures (current lineup) that is out of this world. Jammin' James Riley has a rocker from the Surfaris in Hang Ten. Plus, there's songs from the Ramones (covering The Trashmen), Los Straitjackets, The Beach Boys and Mark Malibu & The Wasagas! Haven't you heard? The bird is the word!!

Warren Zevon "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 12-08-23

 


The late, great Warren Zevon is the "focus beam" artist on the new Boppin' With Beth. Hear about his life, career and untimely passing. There's a couple of great solo tracks from his catalog as well as one from his side band, Hindu Love Gods. There's some songs from influences and peers including The Everly Brothers, Jackson Browne, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan as well as covers by Linda Ronstadt, The Turtles and The Bangles. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a great song from Warren's son, Jordan Zevon! Jammin' James Riley has a tune by The Trashmen in Hang Ten!

Jeff Lynne "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 01-13-23

 


English musician, singer-songwriter and producer Jeff Lynne is the "focus beam" artist on the new Boppin' With Beth. Hear about his early bands, stardom with Electric Light Orchestra, The Traveling Wilburys and solo material. Plus, just a portion of the long and impressive list of artists he's produced. You'll hear tunes from some of his influences as well as some he produced including The Beatles, The Dave Clark Five, Roy Orbison, The Kinks, The Zombies, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
