Kansas "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 04-19-24

 


American rock band Kansas is the "focus beam" artist on this new Boppin' With Beth. Hear about their career, member changes and a couple of rockin' tracks from their discography. There's songs from some of their influences including Yes, Genesis, The Yardbirds, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Deep Purple, Mott The Hoople and The Beach Boys. Beth's Bop Of The Week is a new tune from Otis. Jammin' James Riley has a song by The Hondells in Hang Ten. Kerry Livgren's band from the 80's called AD closes out the show.

J.J. Cale "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 10-22-21

 


The late American singer, songwriter and guitarist J.J. Cale is our "focus beam" artist this week. You'll hear about how he liked to stay away from the spotlight while his songs became monster hits for others. Hear from some of his influences and those he influenced including Scotty Moore (Elvis Presley's guitar player), Chet Atkins & Les Paul, Leon Russell, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Kansas, Johnny Rivers and a tune he did with Eric Clapton who benefited the most from Cale's tunes. We have a couple of rockin' tracks from J.J.'s catalog as well. Jammin' James Riley has an Eddie Cochran song in Rockabilly Rewind and we spin tunes from Pat Huggins and Michelle White (Tony Joe White's daughter) too!
