Shenandoah "Focus Beam" on Boppin' With Beth 08-12-22

American country music band Shenandoah is the "focus beam" band on this week's Boppin' With Beth. We'll hear about their entire career with a couple of soundbites of an interview with founding member and original guitarist, Jim Seales. Jim is also the guest on Beth's Lightning Round too! In addition to some choice cuts from their catalog, there's some tunes from individual member influences including The Osborne Brothers, The Stanley Brothers, Hank Williams, Boston, Cream and The Jeff Beck Group. Jammin' James Riley has a classic Johnny Burnette & The Rock 'N Roll Trio tune in Rockabilly Rewind and The Beatles close the show with a song Shenandoah covered at one point as well.

Shenandoah Albums

All I had was a piece of notebook paper at the time but that wasn't going to stop me from getting autographs from Marty Raybon, Mike McGuire and Stan Munsey at the Helen Keller Festival years ago! So proud to still have this.... missing Jim's but I got that later.

See? I told you I got Jim's autograph later!

Not one single picture of me Jim Seales, who has been my friend for almost 20 years...BUT, here is a picture of me and Mike McGuire from way too long ago:

My Top 5 favorite Shenandoah songs (with videos):

5. "Heaven Bound (I'm Ready)"- Shenandoah covered this Dennis Linde written tune, Originally recorded by The Oak Ridge Boys. It can be found on Shenandoah's 1994 album "In The Vicinity Of The Heart". Check out the video HERE

4. "Sunday In The South"- This one can be found on their 1989 album "The Road Not Taken". I like this song, but, I love the video because it features members of their families AND the late, great Rick Hall. Check out the video HERE

3. "Leavin's Been A Long Time Comin'- This is a fun video that features Eddy Arnold. This is the title track off of their 1992 album! Check out the video HERE
